In the 1928 landmark short film Steamboat Willie, Mickey Mouse is a mischievous deckhand on a riverboat piloted by the tyrannical Captain Pete. Later, after using the boat's crane to rescue Minnie Mouse, the two turn farm animals on board into makeshift musical instruments.
